Title: Electrical/Instrumentation/Controls Technician

Basic Function: Monitors, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots and repairs instrumentation and electrical systems and components.
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Supervises: none
Develops a thorough knowledge of production processes and equipment.
Performs preventive maintenance duties on equipment as required.
Calibrates control devices.
Troubleshoots plant control loops.
Maintains in an orderly manner equipment maintenance records and manuals.
Interprets electrical and instrumentation diagrams and schematics.
Inspects and repairs low and medium voltage switchgears.
Tunes control loops through the distributive control system (DCS).
Repairs both DCS I/O as well as PLC I/O.
Repairs and replaces valves and monitoring devices as needed.
Monitors plant motors and starters checking for hot spots.
May need to share on call duties within the department.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area and performs housekeeping duties as assigned.
Works to maintain good communication and cooperation within department and across the organization.
Provides work direction and training to co-workers as needed.
Suggests improvements in work methods and procedures.
Attends department meetings and training.
Works safely, following all established safety rules and procedures.
Familiarizes themselves with the hazards in their work area and how to protect themselves.
Understands that all incidents are preventable and reports all accidents and injuries to supervision when they occur.
Corrects safety hazards and unsafe conditions, reports those which cannot be corrected by the employee to supervision.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
High school diploma or equivalent
Satisfactory results on Work Keys Assessment
5 or more years of industrial maintenance experience or associated technical school training

The ability to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.

power and hand tools

Walk across uneven surfaces and grating continuously (67% to 100%).
Climb stairs and ladders frequently (34%-66%).
Work at heights up to 125 feet.
Frequently (34%-66%) lift and carry 10 lbs.
Occasionally (0%-33%) lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Stand for extended periods of time (30 minutes at a time 4 hours per shift).
Frequently bend, reach, reach above shoulders, squat, kneel for 15 minutes, push or pull up to 50 lbs, twist/rotate arm, wrist and torso, and crawl 20 feet.
Continuously perform fine manipulations with hands and fingers.
Continuously perform simple grasping and firm grasping.
Tolerate temperature extremes.
Tolerate an environment in which fumes, dust, gases, odors and mist may be present.
See, hear, smell and speak.
Wear a hard hat, steel toed shoes and hearing protection.
