Title: Maintenance Manager

Department: Operations

Location: Fairmont, Minnesota

Basic Function: Oversees all aspects of plant maintenance. Develops and implements maintenance programs. Manages the Maintenance Department and leads the drive for operational reliability.

Reports to: Plant Manager

Supervises: Department employees

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Directs the day-to-day activities of department employees in such a manner that ensures their safety and the safety of other employees and the environmental integrity and operational reliability of the facility.

• Develops, implements and monitors preventive maintenance schedules and programs.

• Maintains and manages the spare parts inventory and controls supply and tool costs.

• Supports a “no blame” work environment where problems are resolved and learning is achieved.

• Works with the plant leadership team to prioritize required repair work.

• Establishes goals and performance measures for the department.

• Supports and collaborates with other facilities, departments, partners and the community.

• Identifies training needs of the department.

• Supports and implements company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Ten years of maintenance experience.

• Five years of supervisory experience.

• Three years of continuous process experience.

• Engineering/Technical education.

Physical Requirements:

• The ability to work 40 or more hours per week.

• The ability to operate a:

  • motorized vehicle

  • hand tools

• The ability to:

  • Walk across uneven surfaces and grating frequently (34%-66%).

  • Occasionally (0-33%) climb stairs and ladders.

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Stand for extended periods of time (30 minutes at a time 2 hours per day).

  • Occasionally (0-33%) bend, reach, squat, kneel for 15 minutes, twist and rotate (arm, wrist and waist), reach above shoulder, push or pull 50 lbs, and crawl 20 feet.

  • Occasionally (0-33%) perform fine manipulations with hands and fingers.

  • Occasionally (0-33%) perform simple grasping and firm grasping.

  • Tolerate temperature extremes.

  • Tolerate heights.

  • See, hear, smell and speak.

  • Wear a hard hat, steel toed shoes and hearing protection.
