BioFuel Energy’s Buffalo Lake facility is the company’s second state-of-the-art project under construction.  Lying approximately 150 miles southwest of Minneapolis, this site is also located in the midst of some of the nation’s prime corn-growing territory, and is situated adjacent to a Cargill grain elevator.

Growth

While our initial focus has been on constructing our first plants, we ultimately expect to grow, at least in part, through acquisitions. We continue to assess the trade-offs, implicit in acquiring versus building plants as we consider whether to initiate construction of additional plants.

We have acquired land rights and permitted three additional potential plant sites, representing an additional 345 mgy of annual capacity.

These sites Include:

Alta, Iowa
115 Million Gallon Facility

Gilman, Illinois

Atchison, Kansas
